Dr. Teich

Dr. Teich, originally hailing from New Jersey, graduated from Cook College, Rutgers University, and obtained his DVM from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. He completed six months of a veterinary internship in Virginia, dabbled in politics, was a staff veterinarian at an in-town clinic for two years and was the medical director of the Washington Humane Society’s spay & neuter center.

Dr. Teich started DCHomeVet with the goal if increasing the quality of wellness care and provide his patients with the time and comfort they deserve. Much of what is done in a clinic can readily be performed in the home – where pets are most comfortable. Home-based visits avoid the stress of travel, waiting in a lobby with curious scents of other animals, undesired interactions and lost time for owners.

DCHomeVet and Dr. Teich provide physical examinations, vaccinations tailored to your pet’s needs, routine bloodwork and heartworm testing, microchipping, pharmacy service, puppy and kitten programs, hospice care and in-home euthanasia services.

Our appointments are usually an hour in duration, providing time for taking a good history and performing a thorough physical examination. Medicine is personal and Dr. Teich wants to get to know you and your pet.

It is also his belief that every owner should have easy access to their pet’s complete medical records. The full chart of each visit is sent to owners digitally as a printable document. Paper copies are available too. This helps owners become an active participant in their pet’s care.

Not all services can be provided in the home, thus we are partnered with CityPaws Animal Hospital on 14th St, NW. Hospitalization, advanced diagnostic and surgical services are provided at CityPaws.

Dr. Teich shares his world with Jacob, a Golden Retriever, Malachi, a Catahoula Leopard Dog, a plant, numerous catfish, a begonia plant and several frogs. He enjoys politics, the city, seeing his clients and patients outside, rock hunting, kayaking, hiking and the great outdoors. Dr. Teich is the past president of the Northern Virginia Veterinary Medical Association and a member of the DC Veterinary Medical Association.

Dr. Teich is assisted by Mr. Brent Ferrell, a licensed human nurse and veterinary nurse, with many years of experience in both fields. Mr. Ferrell works at CityPaws Animal Hospital.
